Once I had decided on a name for my movie, I began to collect suggestions and look online for quotes about paranoia and being afraid. Below are some of the favourite quotes that I liked.. On the second page it can be seen that those quotes were too long and complicated. So I decided to go with one of my initial favourites and use 'when bad dreams turn to reality' as the movie is based on a nightmare, and many audience members can relate to this fear.

Poster development
As it can be seen I experimented with different texts for the name of the movie- as it is a psychological horror movie I wanted to challenge the conventions and have a different quirky font. I was unsure on what colour the name should be but soon decided that white would make it stand out the most and have a lasting effect. I had issues with where to place the masthead, but eventually decided to follow a more conventional poster and place it at the to of the poster and make the strap line a smaller and more simple font at the bottom of the poster.
Magazine front cover overview
Through looking at a variety of magazine covers it can be noted that the most common shot is a close up or mid-close shot of the character- which ensures that the target audience focus on the most important part of the cover. The covers either have a dark black background of a bright colourful background that could be a part of the movie. The covers are filled with sell-lines and images which attracts mostly males- which of course are the main target audience for movie magazines. I was inspired by the banners going across the bottom of the 'Fangoria' and 'Empire' covers- and thought this was a great way to show that these are movie magazines, and a clever way of including still images from other films.

Mock-up of magazine cover
For my mock-up I wanted the image to be simple and effective. I was following the typical conventions of keeping the main sell-lines on the left hand third. I saw the film reel on a number of movie magazine covers and thought it was a good way to show that the magazine is a movie magazine. I had difficulties with coming up with a name for a movie magazine as I wanted it to be professional.
Mock-up of Poster
A close up of the main character can be seen below and also the evil 'monster'/creatures eyes. The idea behind this poster was to play to every persons worst nightmare- that a monster/creature is hiding under their bed- so hopefully the target audience will relate and want to watch the movie.
The name of the movie's text is almost messy, as I want to show the audience an insight into the characters mind- which would be confused and essentially a 'mess'.

Final movie poster
This is a teaser poster, so has the basic elements of a poster included. A small logo in the bottom right corner links the poster and magazine together as the magazine also includes it. A last minute addition was adding the two red eyes on the left hand side, this subtle gesture adds tension and makes the audience wonder if they are having hallucinations or if the creature is there.
