Through looking at a variety of magazine covers it can be noted that the most common shot is a close up or mid-close shot of the character- which ensures that the target audience focus on the most important part of the cover. The covers either have a dark black background of a bright colourful background that could be a part of the movie. The covers are filled with sell-lines and images which attracts mostly males- which of course are the main target audience for movie magazines. I was inspired by the banners going across the bottom of the 'Fangoria' and 'Empire' covers- and thought this was a great way to show that these are movie magazines, and a clever way of including still images from other films.
