Costume

Both of my main characters will be wearing grey tops  in the beginning of the trailer. I hope this will reflect the simple and calm tone at the start of my movie. The plain grey hoodie is what the 'Kathryn' will wear. This is to show her 'plain personality' and present her as a non threatening character. The character 'Lizzy' (Kathryn's friend) also has a similar personality and is not a threatening character. Having a cartoon character on the front of her shirt will hopefully show that she is more childish than and definitely much more innocent than Kathryn is.

The other costume that is significant, is the black t-shirt and light blue silk pyjamas. The black t-shirt is representative of Kathryn's dark or evil side- as the colour black is linked to 'evilness'. The light blue pyjama top will have the opposite effect and show that the character 'Lizzy' is still innocent and unaware of 'Kathryn's' transformation. The light blue  colour is connected to the idea of a young child who is innocent and oblivious to evil. The contrasting colours and images on the clothing found within the trailer, are there to provide the audience with commonly used conventions in horror movies, which will allow them to recognise the 'villain' and 'victim'.

Basic Camera Tutorial- Online help

I had very little knowledge about filming or the functions on a video camera prior to this protect. I had no idea how to charge the camera or how to transfer raw footage from the camera to a computer. Luckily I had access to the internet, and picked up a few tips from a student- who was filming me as well as my teachers to guide me in uploading raw footage. Below are some examples of the online video's that I recieved extra information.

In this second video I found out more than I needed to know really but I found it all useful. I did not even consider the vast range of tripods that I couldv'e used. As this was a school project the budget was limited so I did not expect the camera or tripod to be as good quality as they were. The first six minutes of the video below helped me with setting up of the tripod, however the second half also gave me some ideas and provided me with the knowledge of how to better angle the camera and tripod.

Masthead ideas for my film magazine

I thought I was quite creative in coming up with the name 'obsessed' for the music magazine project, but was uncertain if or how I could be original with a name for a movie magazine.
The more popular and successful movie magazines already existing include: Empire, Total Film and Entertainment.

I wanted my movie magazine's name to reflect a love of film and everything associated with movies, including behind the scenes. I asked a few target audience members what they think should be included in my name for my movie and the replies were:

  • Film Lover
  • Obsessed with movies
  • Screen
  • Watch

I did not find any of these replies particularly helpful and came up with 'FILM FANATIC'. It later occurred to me that I had unintentionaly been influenced by a cinema called 'odeon' their 'tagline' is 'fanatic about film'. I think that this has a good link as many people will be familiar with the 'fanatic about film' saying and can will realise that the magazine is aimed at film fanatics- who cant always go to the cinema, or and want to find out more about the movie.
